Everything you need to know about guidEase.

About the App

guidEase is an AI-powered journaling app built specifically for autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD individuals. It combines journaling with AI-powered reflection, voice recording, meltdown and shutdown tracking, sensory logging, and built-in coping tools, all in one place, designed around how neurodivergent brains actually work.
Most journaling apps are built for neurotypical users: generic mood scales, locked entries, and one-size-fits-all prompts. guidEase is different in a few key ways:

Revisit and reanalyze. You can go back to any entry, update it as your understanding grows, and request a fresh AI analysis. Your self-understanding isn't frozen at the moment you first wrote something.

Neurodivergent-specific tracking. Meltdown and shutdown logs, sensory overload tracking, and delayed emotional processing support, features other apps don't think to include.

No CBT pressure. guidEase doesn't push you toward reframing or "fixing" your emotions. It helps you understand them.

Email or PIN, your choice. You can sign up with email or with just a username and PIN, your identity stays yours.
Not at all. guidEase was built with neurodivergent users in mind because most apps weren't, but the tools work for anyone who wants a more thoughtful, flexible approach to journaling. If you appreciate being able to revisit entries, understand your patterns over time, and use a journaling app that doesn't moralize or push you to "reframe" your feelings, guidEase is for you.
Yes, and we're specific about what that means.

Your journal entries are encrypted using AES-256 before being stored on our servers. Support staff cannot browse your entries, our database enforces this at the server level, not just as a policy.

We never sell your data. We never use your journal content to train AI models. We don't run ads. Your journal is yours.

For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy.
Every journal entry, mood log, and insight is encrypted using AES-256-CBC with HMAC-SHA256 integrity verification, the same standard used in financial and healthcare applications. Each entry is encrypted with a unique key, so no two entries look the same in storage even if the content were identical.

All communication between the app and our servers is protected by TLS 1.2 or higher (HTTPS).

We want to be honest: how your data is encrypted depends on how you signed up. PIN users get end-to-end encryption (only your recovery code can unwrap your entries). Email users get server-managed encryption at rest. Either way, our support team is operationally prevented from accessing journal content, not just asked to avoid it.
Your journal content is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising, research, or any other purpose.

When you request AI analysis, your entry is sent to OpenAI for processing. That's what makes the analysis possible. OpenAI does not use API data to train their models, and we don't send any identifying information alongside your entry. OpenAI cannot connect the text they receive to your guidEase account.

We also use Supabase (database hosting), Mixpanel (pseudonymous usage analytics), Sentry (crash reporting), and RevenueCat (subscription management). None of these receive your journal content. When you use read-aloud, the text of that entry is sent to ElevenLabs to generate the audio, and we have opted out of ElevenLabs using it to train their models. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
No. You can sign up with just a username and PIN, no email required. We store only a hashed (non-reversible) version of your PIN. If you'd rather not hand over your email address to another app, guidEase supports that.

The tradeoff: if you forget your PIN and haven't added a recovery email, we can't recover your account. Adding an email is optional, but recommended if account recovery matters to you.
Deleting your account removes everything immediately from our active database: journal entries, mood logs, insights, memories, and your account record. This happens the moment you confirm deletion in Settings → Delete Account.

Encrypted copies may persist in our automated database backups for up to 7 days before being permanently overwritten. We cannot restore deleted data from these backups. They exist solely for infrastructure disaster recovery.
When you tap "Analyze" on an entry, guidEase decrypts your entry on your device and sends the text to OpenAI for processing. The AI reflects back patterns, themes, and observations based on what you wrote, framed through a neurodivergent lens, not a clinical one.

Because guidEase lets you revisit and revise entries over time, you can also request a fresh analysis after updating an entry. Your understanding of an experience can deepen, and your analysis can too.

AI analysis is for personal reflection only. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or clinical advice.
Yes. You can write entries in any language, and guidEase detects the language you're writing in. Your AI reflections and journaling prompts come back in that same language. Read-aloud speaks many languages too, with the broadest coverage for premium members.

However, the app's interface (buttons and menus) is still in English, detection works best once you've written more than a sentence or two, and it covers most widely-spoken languages rather than every one. Our AI framing was built and tested in English first, so nuance can still vary in other languages.
Yes. guidEase offers a free version with access to essential journaling features so you can explore the app and see what works best for your brain. That includes unlimited journaling and 10 AI analyses per month, no credit card required.

Premium unlocks the full experience: unlimited AI analyses, voice journaling, PDF export, advanced weekly, monthly, and quarterly insights, and long-term AI memory. You can cancel anytime. Please note: App prices may vary slightly by location. Your local price will be shown in the App Store at checkout.
guidEase will be available on iOS (iPhone). More platforms are on the roadmap. If you'd like to be notified as new ones launch, join the waitlist at guidease.app.
Yes. You can write and save entries with no connection. They're stored encrypted on your device right away. To back them up, open Settings → Cloud Sync and tap Sync once you're online. Edits to entries you've already synced go up on their own the next time you open the app.

AI insights, voice transcription, and photo uploads need a connection. Read-aloud keeps working offline with your device's built-in voice, including the voice you picked in settings. Your recordings and photos stay on your device until then.
Subscriptions are billed and managed entirely through Apple. guidEase doesn't handle payment information directly, which means refund requests go through Apple, not us.

To request a refund: open the App Store → tap your profile photo → Purchased → find guidEase → Report a Problem. Apple handles refund eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

Yes. Your data belongs to you and you can take it with you anytime.

Free users can export in TXT, CSV, or JSON format. Premium users also get PDF export. You'll find the export option in Settings.
Follow Apple's official cancellation steps: on your iPhone go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → guidEase → Cancel Subscription.

Go to Settings → Delete my Data. This permanently removes all your journal entries, mood logs, insights, and memories, but your account stays active and you can keep using guidEase. This action cannot be undone, so export your entries first if you want to keep them.
Go to Settings → Delete Account. This removes everything immediately and permanently: all entries, mood logs, insights, memories, and the account itself. You will not be able to recover the account or any of its data after this step.

We recommend exporting your entries first if you want to keep them. There are no automated backups. Deletion is final.
No, account types can’t be switched.

If you use a PIN, it stays a PIN account. You can add an email for recovery, but it won’t change how you sign in.

If you’ve added an email, you can update it anytime. Your data isn’t affected.
You have two recovery options:

Recovery code — if you saved your recovery code when you set up your account, you can use it to regain access.

Backup email — if you added an email address to your account, you can recover via OTP sent to that email.

If you have neither, the account cannot be recovered. This is by design. It means nobody else can get into your account either. We strongly recommend saving your recovery code somewhere safe.
Yes. Go to Settings → Account → Regenerate Recovery Code. You'll need to enter your current PIN to confirm. Once regenerated, your old code is immediately invalidated. Save the new one before leaving the screen.
guidEase supports importing from a JSON backup file, so if you previously exported your guidEase data, you can restore it. Direct import from other journaling apps is not currently supported.
Long-term memory is a Premium feature that lets guidEase's AI remember patterns, themes, and context from your past entries, so your analysis gets more meaningful over time rather than treating each entry in isolation.

To manage it: go to Settings → Long-Term Memory. You can clear all stored memories at any time, or disable the feature entirely if you'd prefer the AI not retain anything between sessions. Clearing memories is permanent and cannot be undone.
The fastest way is through the app: go to Settings → Support & Feedback. You can send a message directly and you'll receive a reply inside the app, no switching to email or another platform.
